James holds an Msc. and Bsc. in Meteorology and is interested in atmospheric research using satellite data. His previous research involved comparability of station rain gauge data with Rainfall Estimates (RFE) data and looking at the evolution and distribution of clouds in the mid-latitudes. His work in SERVIR-Eastern & Southern Africa is in programming for bulk scientific data analysis and the automation of these systems. He is currently working on an application to monitor frost in tea growing areas, surface water mapping, and water quality mapping of inland lakes using remote sensing data.
